Purpose
Total Defense is committed to delivering secure, reliable, and resilient anti-malware protection for Windows 10 and Windows 11 customers. Our Safe Deployment Practices (SDP) are designed to minimize risk, maintain product quality, and ensure rapid recovery from potential issues related to software updates, signature releases, and cloud-delivered protection services.
Deployment Principles
- Security and system stability are prioritized equally.
- All releases undergo manual validation before deployment.
- Deployments are performed in controlled phases to reduce customer impact.
- Customer systems are continuously monitored (statistical records only. No PII are monitored or transferred) for deployment-related issues.
- Cleanup and remediation procedures are maintained for all production releases.
Development and Testing
Before release, software updates are subjected to:
- Secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC) practices.
- Automated build verification and code-signing validation.
- Functional, performance, compatibility, and regression testing.
- Validation across supported Windows 10 and Windows 11 versions.
- Internal testing in representative environments prior to production deployment.
Release Management
Total Defense uses a staged deployment process:
- Internal validation and quality assurance testing.
- Limited pilot deployment.
- Gradual customer rollout based on deployment health metrics.
- Broad release following successful validation.
Monitoring and Incident Response
Following deployment, Total Defense continuously monitors:
- Installation success rates.
- Product stability and reliability metrics.
- Detection engine performance.
- Customer support and telemetry signals.
If a deployment issue is identified, Total Defense may pause further rollout, investigate root cause, and implement corrective actions.
Recovery and Cleanup
Total Defense maintains documented procedures for:
- Cleanup of problematic updates.
- Emergency signature and content withdrawal.
- Customer remediation guidance when required.
- Communication with affected customers and ecosystem partners.
Security Controls
All production releases are:
- Digitally signed using trusted code-signing certificates.
- Distributed through secured update channels.
- Verified for integrity and authenticity before installation.
Continuous Improvement
Total Defense regularly reviews deployment processes, operational metrics, customer feedback, and industry best practices to improve deployment safety, reliability, and resilience.
