How to install Total Defense Essential Anti-Virus for Mac - on MacOS Sequoia

1. Open installer.

2. Select Allow to run.

3. You will see a welcome screen. Click Continue.

4. Shows the space required to install. Click Continue.
Picture3.jpgYou will be prompted to enter your computer password. Click Install Software.

5. Click Close.

6. Installer will begin downloading. You will see a total of two alert notifications in the meantime. One will be titled “Background Items Added”.

You may close the alert or right click the “Background Items” to see details. If opened, you will see “BitDefender SRL” enabled.

Alternatively, you can navigate there manually:

  • open System Settings
  • select General
  • select Login Items &  Extensions

7. There is a second notification titled, “Total Defense Installer” Notifications. Hover the alert, select the dropdown, and click Allow (or Don’t Allow).

You can also navigate there manually to manage options later:

  • open System Settings
  • select Notifications
  • Scroll down to see Total Defense application notification options.

8. You will be prompted to grant access. Click the link in step one.

Drag the icon to the full disk access menu. Alternatively, you use the toggle button to enable “Total Defense Antivrius for Mac.”

Enter your computer password.

Click “Quit and Reopen.”

9. New window requests to login. Click the login button, submit your Total Defense credentials, and wait to be redirected.

After login, you have successfully activated your subscription. But a few more steps remain.

10. New access is requested for Total Defense Agent. Click Open System Settings.

Enable TotalDefense Agent using the toggle button.

You will be prompted to enter your system password. Enter and click OK.

You can also navigate there manually:

  • open System Settings
  • select General
  • select Login Items &  Extensions
  • look under Extensions and select the information icon ⓘ to the right of Endpoint Security Extensions.

11. Now you’re prompted for additional full disk access. Open the link in step 1.

Drag the icon to the full disk access menu. Alternatively, you can use the toggle button to enable “TotalDefense.”

You will be prompted to enter your system password. Enter and click Modify Settings.

Wait momentarily and you will have full access.

12. Verify signature updates. With the Total Defense open, select Actions and then Update threat information database.

May take some time depending on internet speed. When it’s finished, click OK.
